Soft Bottom Repair & Reinforcement

A tub floor that flexes underfoot is failing. We rebuild the support before it cracks through.

Soft Bottom Repair & Reinforcement, beforeBeforeAfter

Many fibreglass and acrylic tubs are installed with too little supporting material under the floor pan. Over time the bottom starts to flex when you step in, then creak, then crack. If your tub floor moves underfoot, the material is fatiguing with every bath. We reinforce the tub bottom so it is rigid and solid again, and repair any surface cracking the movement has already caused.

Often paired with chip & crack repairs, bathtub refinishing, and slip protection, since combining work in one visit keeps the total cost down.

Available in North Bay, Greater Sudbury, Huntsville, and the rest of our Northern Ontario service area.

FAQ

Soft Bottom Repair: questions we hear most.

Straight answers from the crew doing the work. If yours is not here, call and ask.

Why does my tub floor flex when I stand in it?
Most often the tub was installed without enough supporting material under the floor pan. Fibreglass and acrylic pans are thin, and they rely on that support. Without it, every step flexes the material until it cracks.
Is a soft bottom dangerous?
It gets worse with use. The flexing fatigues the material, leads to cracks, and eventually water gets through to the structure below. Fixing it early is a small job. Fixing a cracked-through floor and water damage is not.
Do I need a new tub if the bottom is soft?
Usually not. Reinforcing the bottom restores a solid floor at a fraction of the cost of replacement, and we repair and refinish any cracking at the same time.
How long does the repair take?
Most soft bottom reinforcements are completed in a single visit, and the tub is typically usable again within 24 to 48 hours once everything has cured.
