Keep the gloss for years, not months.
A refinished surface asks for very little, but the few rules it has matter. Here is the same care guide we leave with every refinishing job.
Everyday habits
- Remove excess water, then clean and dry the tub after each use.
- Make sure taps are fully closed and the shower pipe drains after each use. A steady drip wears a track into any finish.
- Do not leave soap, bottles, spray cans, or wet cloths sitting on the surface for long periods.
- Clean with a liquid cleaner after every use, even when the tub looks clean. Soap film builds invisibly.
Cleaners that are safe
Any of these liquid cleaners keep the finish bright:
- Mr. Clean
- Spray Fantastik
- Lysol Tub & Tile Cleaner
- Liquid Spic & Span
- Liquid Ajax
- Formula 409
Never use abrasives
Abrasive powders like Comet and powdered Ajax grind the gloss off any finish, refinished or original. Even Soft Scrub is mildly abrasive. If a cleaner feels gritty between your fingers, keep it away from the tub.
Bath mats
Use only a non-stick, suction-free bath mat. Conventional suction-cup mats, stick-on appliques, and adhesive strips damage the finish as they age. Remove the mat after each use, and do not hang it over the tub edge. Roll it up and put it away. Better yet, ask us about built-in slip protection and retire the mat entirely.
